GAMMA(6D) GAMMA(6D)

NAME    [Toc]    [Back]

gamma - get or set	the system gamma value

SYNOPSIS    [Toc]    [Back]

     /usr/sbin/gamma [newgamma]

DESCRIPTION    [Toc]    [Back]

gamma with	no arguments prints the	current	gamma correction value. gamma
followed by a floating point argument sets	the gamma correction value.
This system resource can only be changed by the super user. Positive
numbers less than 20.0 are	allowable values for gamma. On systems with
gamma hardware, the X server should be terminated and restarted. This
can be done via kill(1) or, if xdm(1) is used, by changing	the
terminateServer entry in /usr/lib/X11/xdm/xdm-config to True. Colors in
X clients may not look correct until the server is	restarted.
