NOLOGIN(5)

Contents

NAME    [Toc]    [Back]

     nologin -- disallow logins

DESCRIPTION    [Toc]    [Back]

Programs such as login(1) disallow logins if the file /var/run/nologin
exists. Programs display the contents of /var/run/nologin to the user
and exit.	This makes it simple to temporarily prevent incoming logins
     systemwide.

To disable logins on a per-account basis, investigate nologin(8).

SECURITY    [Toc]    [Back]

Ignored by login(1) for user root.

FILES    [Toc]    [Back]

/var/run/nologin The nologin file resides in /var/run.

SEE ALSO    [Toc]    [Back]

     login(1), rlogin(1), telnet(1), nologin(8), shutdown(8)
